NC Presbyterian Higher Ed. Ministries
The North Carolina Presbyterian Higher Education Ministries (NCPHEM), a statewide organization for higher education ministry, engaged PMA in 2010 to help chart a new direction.
“Dwindling financial support is a major challenge, with campus ministry and chaplaincies funded as line items in already stretched-thin budgets,” says PMA Consultant Josh Jacobson. “We realized we would need to build a new platform of support from the ground up, beginning with increased awareness and leading to investment from new sources.”
With PMA’s help, NCPHEM launched an effort to generate much-needed financial support for higher education ministry throughout the state. In 2011, NCPHEM secured a four-year, $500,000 endowment gift from a North Carolina family foundation, the largest private gift to Presbyterian campus ministry in the history of North Carolina. PMA has used this transformational gift as a challenge grant statewide, encouraging local investment.
“Since August 2010, the PMA team has been working with NCPHEM to create a plan to assist campus ministry programs throughout the state. The firm worked with our board in 2010 to conduct a development assessment, and we retained PMA to implement it.
It is not hyperbole to say that the very future of campus ministry is at stake, and PMA has been critical to ensuring that our future is a bright one. Josh has sought to understand those things that separate us and has worked to bring us closer together as a board and an organization.”Bob Haywood - Moderator
