PMA Pro Bono Project
Purpose
The purpose of PMA’s Pro Bono Project is to strengthen the capacity, impact, and sustainability of nonprofits throughout the Greater Charlotte Region. The PMA team will provide in-kind, pro bono consulting, working with the leadership of one nonprofit to help them serve their mission, enhance their long-term vision, and impact the Charlotte community.
Eligibility for Pro Bono Services
The organization must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit located within the Greater Charlotte region. The organization should have a maximum operating budget of $250,000, a minimum of 1 full-time staff member, a board of directors, and a mission that benefits the Greater Charlotte community. PMA does not accept applications from organizations that promote specific political affiliations. The organization should not have been a PMA client within the past 12 months.
Selection Criteria
PMA will select one (1) nonprofit organization that fits the eligibility for services and has been approved by a community advisory panel. The organization selected will receive 3-months of consulting services. PMA will look for indicators to ensure the engagement will have a lasting impact on the organization and the community. Other indicators include, but are not limited to:
- Financial strength
- Participation by organizational leadership
- Board approval of the project
Confidentiality
All information will be kept confidential within PMA and the selection committee.
Services Offered
Strategic Advisory: PMA can provide strategic advice tailored to the organization’s needs and goals, including comparative research, stakeholder interviews and facilitated workshops. PMA’s strategic advisory services help organizations prepare for near-term sustainability with long-term vision.
Development Assessment: Contributed revenue is a vital lifeline for organizations and a needed component for fueling missions. The current fundraising climate demands that nonprofits take innovative approaches to fund development, leveraging resources to maximize returns. PMA helps nonprofits develop the platform and tools necessary to support effective fundraising activities.
Coaching & Facilitation: PMA’s coaching services are ideal for leaders at a crossroads of programmatic, fund development or staffing changes, or as a means to onboard new talent. PMA’s expert facilitation, presentation and momentum services will help to ensure that the next board/staff retreat or planning meeting is effective and motivating for all involved.
Staff & Board Development: PMA understands that an organization’s programming is its first priority, but staff and board needs that remain unaddressed impact the ability to advance mission. PMA can assist in identifying staffing/volunteer needs and facilitating solutions without losing focus or momentum.
Application Deadline
PMA will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 with a deadline of January 10, 2012. A final decision for one (1) pro bono project will be announced on February 11, 2012. The start date will be determined by the PMA staff and the leadership of the organization.
