PMA Adds Ginny Amendum to Consulting Team

Patton McDowell & Associates (PMA), a Charlotte-based consulting firm for nonprofits, announced today that Ginny Amendum will join its growing team of consultants. Amendum will serve as a Senior Consultant, providing leadership and connection to the firm’s work with human services agencies.

GinnyAmendumGinny Amendum previously served as president of Thompson Child and Family Focus in Charlotte, NC, retiring in 2013 after twelve years as the chief administrator. During Amendum’s tenure, Thompson significantly increased the scope and strength of its services, facilities and financial support. Under her direction, Thompson successfully designed a model child development program that has been recognized across the state for excellence. In recent years, Amendum directed the expansion of Thompson’s outreach treatment and support programs, and the establishment of highly specialized attachment disorder treatment services aimed at healing the lives of children traumatized by abuse, neglect or impoverished circumstances.

Amendum also brings experience in mergers and capital campaigns to PMA. In 2009, Amendum completed the final phase of a successful $10 million capital campaign for Thompson to support a new state-of-the-art, 24,000-square-foot Early Childhood Development Center serving up to 40 percent more children on Clanton Road near West Blvd. She also initiated mergers with The Family Center (2008) and York Place (2013).

Prior to joining Thompson, Amendum enjoyed a successful 20-year career in education as an elementary school teacher and pre-school director in Charlotte and her home state of New York. Her community involvement includes membership and/or leadership roles with organizations that include the N.C. Child & Family Services Association, the Children’s Alliance, the United Agenda for Children, Mecklenburg Partnership for Children (Smart Start) and the North Carolina Child Care Commission.

PMA President Patton McDowell said: “All of us at PMA are thrilled to be adding such an accomplished individual to our consulting team. Beyond her exceptional work on behalf of children and families in the Carolinas, she also brings key organizational development acumen and critical thinking to our client engagements.”
