Nonprofit of the Month: 24 Hours of Booty
PMA is pleased to feature 24 Hours of Booty as our “Nonprofit of the Month” for June. The Charlotte-based nonprofit plays a vital role in the support of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and other cancer organizations, both locally and across the country.
The annual 24-hour cycling event has become a reflection of what organizations can accomplish when a collaborative spirit takes precedence in raising public awareness, support, and funding. Entering its 11th year, 24 Hours of Booty’s 10,000+ participants have raised more than $7 million, with rides taking place in four cities currently. Organizations supported include:
- The Keep Pounding Fund at Carolinas Medical Center (Charlotte, NC)
- Brain Tumor Fund for the Carolinas (Charlotte, NC)
- Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults (Columbia, MD)
- Aflac Cancer Center of Children’s Healthcare (Atlanta, GA)
- Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center (Indianapolis, IN)
Cyclists of all abilities will convene at Charlotte’s 11th Annual 24 Hours of Booty on July 27-28, 2012 – each with their own passion and dedication in the fight against cancer. Riders and volunteers alike take part in the event for various reasons – many as a remembrance and celebration of friends and family affected by the disease.
The traffic-free loop is a safe area for the 1,200 participants to ride, while 300 volunteers are needed to support the event. Anyone interested in volunteering, please click here.
While full event registration is closed, slots are still available in the reboot program. Participants ride between 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m on Saturday, July 28th. A $35 registration fee and $200 fundraising commitment is required to participate in the program. For more information, click here.
A look at the list of participating individuals and teams gives a clear indication to the good work 24 Hours of Booty is doing both in cancer awareness and community outreach. Companies across the Charlotte area regularly take part in the event, something that wouldn’t be possible without the dedication of the entire team at 24 Hours of Booty.
Teams often hold grassroots fundraising events throughout the year in support of reaching their goals for 24 Hours of Booty – a further reflection on the character and reputation of this outstanding organization.
We hope you’ll consider getting involved with 24 Hours of Booty in some way. Whether it be as a participant, volunteer, or even attending to cheer on participants, your support is greatly appreciated by everyone.
