McDowell to Present at North Carolina Philanthropy Conference
I’ll be representing Patton McDowell & Associates at the 5th Annual NC Philanthropy Conference – Aligning for Impact: Connecting the Dots – which will take place on August 12, 2009, in Greensboro at the Sheraton Hotel at Four Seasons/ Joseph S. Koury Convention Center.
My presentation is entitled What Can Your Nonprofit Learn From the Best of Business and Strategy, and will explore a number of the topics that business leaders are studying during this distressed economy. Sampling from authors such as Peter Drucker, Ram Charan, Michael Porter and Marcus Buckingham, the session will address the question many nonprofit leaders are hearing from their board members right now: “Why can’t we just run this nonprofit more like a business?” We’ll discuss the facts and fallacies behind that exact question.
Hosted by the Triad, Triangle and Charlotte Chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, this annual conference offers an opportunity for development professionals, including non-profit executive directors, development officers, non-profit support staff, and volunteer leaders to expand their fundraising knowledge, learn new skills they can apply in their organizations, and network with peers and industry leaders.
