Let’s Talk Bequests & Donor Panel
The morning program, “Let’s Talk Bequests – with your prospects, donors, board and leadership” will feature Karen Gallardo, Senior Director of Gift Planning and Major Gifts for the AARP Foundation. Bequests are the foundation of gift planning programs, yet they tend to get less attention and enthusiasm than other planned gifts.
Gallardo will speak on such topics as:
- Different ways to talk about bequests to the right donors and prospects.
- How to talk with your finance team to justify investment in a bequest program.
- How to talk with different parts of your organization so they can understand and support your bequest program.
The AARP Foundation has received more than 82,000 inquiries to its Lasting Legacy bequest marketing over the last 18 months. Learn what its members are interested in and how the Foundation is helping educate the 50+ population on the benefits of estate planning (while generating gifts along the way).
In the afternoon session, Michael Marsicano, President and CEO of Foundation for the Carolinas, one of the largest community foundations in the country, will moderate “Donors Speak – a Panel Discussion.”
Four donors have agreed to share their inspirations behind making a planned gift and why it’s meaningful to each. The panelists will also share how they decided to structure the gift and their philosophy of giving.
Jill Dinwiddie, Executive Director, N.C. Council for Women/Domestic Violence Commission. Jill is currently serving on the boards of Levine Museum of the New South in Charlotte, Planned Parenthood Health Systems, and the North Carolina Arts Council.
