Good News? Tim Newman Has It
Nonprofits in Charlotte can’t help but be dismayed by all of the challenging economic news that seems to be a daily headline. But as I visited today with Tim Newman, the outstanding CEO for the Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority, I was encouraged by three things he shared:
- hotel reservations are back up to pre-downturn numbers
- restaurants are seeing an upswing in business
- convention and event bookings are projected at all-time highs for the next two years
Are tough times for nonprofits over? No. But the psychology of giving is indeed correlated to economic conditions, and hopefully an already generous community will respond even better to some good news for a change.
