FFTC Annual Luncheon March 5th
Foundation for the Carolinas will hold its 2009 Annual Meeting luncheon March 5 at the Charlotte Convention Center. The keynote address will be delivered by James Surowiecki, acclaimed author of The Wisdom of Crowds—Why The Many Are Smarter Than The Few And How Collective Wisdom Shapes Business, Economies, Societies And Nations. In his book, Surowiecki theorizes that under the right circumstances large groups of people can be remarkably intelligent and effective problem solvers.
Surowiecki engagingly applies his theory to stock market performance, presidential elections, how Google finds exactly the internet search results you’re looking for, and why polling the studio audience during the TV game show Who Wants to be a Millionaire provides the correct answer 91 percent of the time. Surowiecki is also a financial columnist for The New Yorker.
