Client of the Month: The CFIDS Association of America
Each month, the PMA Blog will feature a past/current client that is making exceptional progress in advancing its mission and vision. The showcased client will typically exhibit strategies that are timely and speak to challenges and opportunities facing us all.
PMA’s Client of the Month for May is The CFIDS Association of America, a national research-support organization based in Charlotte, NC and dedicated to solving chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS). PMA is pleased to be working with this exceptional organization during a time of growth and redevelopment.
As the country’s largest and most active charitable organization dedicated to CFS, the Association has been focused since its establishment in 1987 on sustained initiatives to bring an end to the pain, disability and suffering caused by this often misunderstood condition. The Association’s leadership includes longtime CEO Kimberly McCleary, Scientific Director Dr. Suzanne Vernon, CFO Kris Hopkins and a dynamic national board of directors.
While offering information and resources to patients, family members, health care professionals and the general public, the Association recently declared clinical research into disease modifying treatment as its number one priority. The Association promotes this orientation via its Research 1st website which seeks to be a one-stop hub for “the most current and reliable information about CFS-related research being conducted by top-flight scientists worldwide.”
Now in its 25th year, the Association is embracing an opportunity to achieve “transformational research, vibrant communication and magnetic growth” through several key efforts:
- Organizational Rebranding: With PMA’s help, the Association is working with a national brand marketing firm (Big Duck in Brooklyn, NY) to consider an opportunity to rebrand the “look and feel” of its public messaging, including possible changes to its visual identity and marketing strategy.
- Development Planning: A well-structured rebranding will lead naturally into the launch of a new development plan focused on harnessing the latent potential of existing networks with the opportunity to acquire new friends and supporters through increased cultivation efforts.
- Staff Structuring: To support these efforts, PMA is helping the Association develop a pool of talented candidates for development and marketing positions.
PMA is proud to be helping the CFIDS Association of America develop the infrastructure and strategic direction needed to fulfill its very important mission.
