Patton McDowell led participants through an interactive workshop, discussing current trends in philanthropy and ways in which organizations can effectively define their message.  The participants listened to ways in which nonprofits can identify their audiences, as well as how to lead these audiences through the development cycle.

Presentation: Aligning Your Personal & Organizational Strategic Plans
Patton McDowell led participants, regardless of their experience level, through a personal strategic planning process, drawing parallels between how the planning will benefit both the individual and their organization. The importance of personal development was stressed, and how growing as a nonprofit professional not only benefits participants, but also strengthens their organizations and missions. Multiple horizons for professional planning were highlighted – from 90-day increments to 5-year plans – and exercises were facilitated including a personal and professional SWOT analysis.
