22nd Annual Ride for Raptors Event
The 22nd Annual Ride for Raptors will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2010 in Pendleton, SC. All proceeds will be donated to Carolina Raptor Center for the rehabilitation and care of injured and orphaned hawks, owls, eagles, and vultures. Participants will cycle the scenic terrain of Anderson and Pickens Counties in three distances (25, 65, or 100 mile routes) on roads near Clemson & Pendleton, SC.
Registration is $30/$35 before October 9th and $40 the day of the event from 7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. Click here to register. All rides begin On the Square in Pendleton, SC. Century riders will need to register and start before 9 a.m. Registration and start for the Metric Century and Quarter Century will remain open until 9:30a.m. All entrants are provided with cue sheets, and directional arrows are painted on the roads. An optional mass start is at 8:30 a.m. Door prizes will include cycling gear and cases of “bird beer”.
About the Ride…
The Ride for Raptors was named a winner of the Best Century Rides of 1993 by the League of American Bicyclists. It includes choices of distances and terrain suitable for most cyclists. The Quarter Century extends through the scenic farmlands surrounding historic Pendleton. The most difficult is the ECCC Century Challenge – 100 miles ranging from the Pendleton area to the foothills of Northern Pickens County.
